Shinmei-torii (shinmei-style shrine gates \/ \u795e\u660e\u9ce5\u5c45) are the oldest and simplest types of torii (shrine gates \/ \u9ce5\u5c45) in Japan, dating back to the early Heian period (794\u20131185).<\/p>\n                    \n\n                    \n                    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Within Shint\u014d (Japan\u2019s native nature religion \/ \u795e\u9053) tradition, a torii (shrine gate \/ \u9ce5\u5c45) marks the boundary between the ordinary world and the sacred realm of the kami (deities \/ \u795e). Passing beneath a torii (shrine gate \/ \u9ce5\u5c45) therefore signifies more than merely entering a physical space; it symbolizes a transition into the realm of the divine. Crossing the gates one enters the sacred world of the kami (deities \/ \u795e), where worship, ritual, and spiritual practice take place. Beyond them extends the ordinary world of everyday life.<\/p>\n                    \n\n                    \n                    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The three torii (shrine gate \/ \u9ce5\u5c45) are further adorned with shimenawa (sacred ropes \/ \u6ce8\u9023\u7e04) and shide (zigzag paper streamers \/ \u7d19\u5782), traditional symbols of purity and sanctity within Shint\u014d (Japan\u2019s native nature religion \/ \u795e\u9053). Together, they signify the presence of the divine and visibly mark the space beyond as sacred ground. The shimenawa (sacred rope \/ \u6ce8\u9023\u7e04) serves as a boundary separating the sacred from the ordinary, while the shide (zigzag paper streamers \/ \u7d19\u5782) symbolize purification and the spiritual presence of the kami (deities \/ \u795e) dwelling within the shrine precincts.<\/p>\n                    \n\n                    \n                    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The Ichi no Torii (First Torii \/ \u4e00\u306e\u9ce5\u5c45) marks the principal entrance into the precincts of the Hokushin-Jinja. The Ni no Torii (Second Torii \/ \u4e8c\u306e\u9ce5\u5c45) stands at the entrance to the larger grounds of the Kokury\u016b-en (Garden of the Black Dragon \/ \u9ed2\u9f8d\u5712), while the San no Torii (Third Torii \/ \u4e09\u306e\u9ce5\u5c45) marks the transition towards the Keng\u014d no Yu (Bath of the Sword Masters \/ \u5263\u8c6a\u306e\u6e6f), the large private wellness area of the Chiba-D\u014dj\u014d (\u5343\u8449\u9053\u5834) of the Hokushin Itt\u014d-ry\u016b, situated as a separate area within the beauty of the Kokury\u016b-en (Garden of the Black Dragon \/ \u9ed2\u9f8d\u5712).
